Department of Geography was established in the year 1959-60 Dr.B.V.Singh was the founding professor of this Department. Department had started M.A. in Geography with intake of 20 students in M.A. pre. in 1968-69.The present intake strength for M.A. and research scholars is 30 and 06 respectively. Department has so far produced about 1300 M.A. students and 44 Ph.Ds scholars. Department consists of one professor and three Assistant professors. |

One, the Head of the department possesses M.Phil. degree and teaching experience of 19 years while the other is working on temporary basis. Keeping in view the work load of the department the number of teachers is adequate. |

This became possible due to sincere efforts of many teachers who joined this department. Their contribution to the assigned task, devotion to the institution and competency was beyond doubts. Some of them who left this institution due to their personal reasons graced other institutions as Principals, Heads of post graduate departments and scientific officers. Efforts were made to raise the department to PG level but owing to the financial and other problems, it could not achieve the desired level. |

This department came into existence in1994 when UGC sponsored Vocational course ‘Computer Application’ started at UG level. This college is the first college in MP which started this vocational subject. Since then, the department is growing continuously. This can be observed through enhancements in courses, infrastructure, facilities available and students’ strength. Initially it was established with the help of the UGC grant, but now it is the only self financing department in the college. |
